Her tenure working at The Washington Post was spent reporting on multiple Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis along with basketball, football and other sports. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period working for ESPN and appeared on the most watched programs like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, changed to ESPN following 2004. Also, she was the correspondent of Monday Night Football on the network. After she left ESPN, her next station was CNN as well as Turner Sports. Alongside the reporting on TBS, she also covered baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four on CBS. The only woman to have been picked from over two hundred nominees in the history of 42 years for this award.
