Firefly The Firefly, the new hit Whedon show, grew out of a one-off show. In Summer Glau's role, River Tam was a complicated persona that Glau did well. In the role of Tam her character, she was forced into government experiments where she was made to become an ideal assassin. Tam's ability to control emotions is taken from her. Glau demonstrated her fighting ability as well as her acting skills on Firefly. It was also evident that learning to be an assassin allowed Glau to make the most of her athletic skills. The classical background of Summer Glau makes her a highly accomplished ballerina. She also has studied flamenco and tango, however her foot injury caused her to stop dancing. Firefly ran for only just one season but it had a large fanbase. The fans of Whedon were so enthusiastic that Whedon returned to it two years later. Summer Glau kept on getting some good work.
