
Bellamy Young was born Amy Maria Young in February 1970. [1] She is an American actor, singer, producer, and actor best known for her portrayal on the show Melody "Mellie," Grant in ABC's Scandal in 2012-2017. Her performance was so successful that she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for the Best Supporting actor in an Drama Series in 2014. She starred in the 2019 season in the role of Prodigal Son on Fox. Young's career in acting began with the theatre. Her Broadway debut was in 1997 when she played Mary in The Life. [8][9] Her Off-Broadway appearances include in Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Rock Along (1994) and in Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). She made her TV debut in the role of"Dr. Courtney Evans in 1995 on NBC's Another World soap opera. In two episodes, she appeared of Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. The year 1999 saw her debut in film with tiny roles in the crime drama Black and White and later co-starred in several independent films. Around the turn of the century, she began appearing on a variety of drama and comedy showslike The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young has had more than 30 appearances on TV series between 2000 and 2011.
